Activities to kick-start the 39th and 40th convocation ceremony of Ignatius Ajuru University of Education, IAUE, will commence on Sunday, May 8th, with a convocation Church Service, at the Chapel of Transfiguration, Rumuolumeni campus by 10a:m, according to the invitation signed by the Registrar of the Institution, Mrs. K. H. Kue-Ikoro.
The schedule of activities sighted by Africa Update states that The convocation lecture with the topic: Nigerian Universities and the challenges of National development, will be delivered on Tuesday, May 10th, by the Head of the Civil Service of Rivers State, Rufus Nkereawaji Godwins, Esq, JP, at 10a:m prompt.
The schedule further disclosed that a leisure/ recreation event will hold same day at 12noon prompt. This event will hold at the open field beside the Administration building, with dancing, drama and comedy in the offering.
Guest and dignitaries will be hosted to a cocktail party, at the Senior Staff Club by 5p:m later that evening.
On Friday, May 13th, the award of first Degrees and prizes will take place at the University auditorium by 10a:m prompt, while the conferment of Higher Degrees will hold on Saturday, May 14th, at the same venue and time.
This convocation ceremony will be the first since the acting Vice Chancelor, Prof Okechuku Onuchuku, took over from his predecessor, Prof. Ozo-Mekuri Ndimele, whose tenure elapsed in November, 2021.
