Bauchi, Nigeria — Sa’adu Zungur University (SAZU) has issued a public warning to prospective students and their parents, cautioning them against a fraudulent scheme involving fake admission letters for the 2025/2026 academic session. The university’s management has confirmed that these forged documents are being circulated by scammers to mislead unsuspecting applicants.
According to a statement signed by the university’s Public Relations Officer, Auwal Hassan, the counterfeit letters are titled “Provisional Letter of Admission into Bauchi State University, Gadau, Bauchi State for the 2025/2026 Session.” The fraudsters are falsely associating the document with SAZU to take advantage of applicants.
The university stressed that it is a distinct institution from Bauchi State University, Gadau (BASUG), and reiterated that its official admission process is conducted strictly through the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) Central Admission Processing System (CAPS) and the university’s official portal.
“Sa’adu Zungur University has not released any admission letters for the 2025/2026 academic session outside official channels,” the statement read. “Any demand for payment of fees to unauthorized persons or accounts is fraudulent and should be disregarded.”
The university urged all applicants to verify any admission offers only through JAMB CAPS or the SAZU Admissions Office. The management also confirmed it is collaborating with law enforcement to identify and prosecute those behind the scam. For genuine updates, applicants were directed to the university’s official website, http://www.sazu.edu.ng.
