PORT HARCOURT, Rivers State – July 11, 2025 – Two senior officials of the Ahoada East Local Government Area of Rivers State, previously declared wanted by the police in connection with the alleged assault on the council administrator, Goodluck Iheanachor, have surrendered to authorities Africa Update reports.

Hector Ekakita, the Chief Security Officer of the LGA, and Aloni Olodi, the Chief of Staff, reported to the Rivers State Police Command in Port Harcourt on Thursday, July 10, 2025, after weeks of evading police invitations. Their surrender follows a police declaration issued on July 6, 2025, branding them wanted for attempted murder, assault, and theft.

The suspects are accused of leading a group of approximately 30 youths who allegedly stormed the Ahoada East council headquarters three weeks prior. During the invasion, Administrator Goodluck Iheanachor was reportedly physically assaulted and forced to sign a resignation letter under duress. The assailants also allegedly stole Iheanachor’s mobile phone and vital documents, an incident that drew widespread condemnation.

Following the brazen attack, the State Commissioner of Police, Olugbenga Adepoju, had initially invited both officials for questioning. Their subsequent failure to honor these invitations led to their formal declaration as wanted persons.
