Two directors in charge of education, health, and social services, and special projects respectively, at the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) have regained their freedom after spending days at an undisclosed detention facility, following their arrest by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).
The directors, whose names could not be ascertained Friday night, were reportedly arrested on Monday and detained till Thursday before they were released on administrative bail. They were allegedly arrested on allegations of abuse of office regarding expenditure on COVID-19 and the mishandling of the commission’s scholarship programme.
Confirming the arrest on Friday, Azuka Ogugua, ICPC’s spokesperson, did not however, mention where the officials were detained and when they would likely be quizzed again.
