A man identified as Owate Bode aged 30 years, has allegedly clubbed his mother to death for refusing to give him N20,000. The incident according to reports, occurred at Aleto community, in Eleme Local Government Area of Rivers State on Saturday.

Africa Update gathered that the boy asked his mother to withdraw N20,000 with his Automated Teller Machine, ATM card to enable him purchase clothes to attend the burial of his late mother’s friend.

But trouble started when the woman returned and handed him N10,000 instead of the N20,000 he requested. An argument ensued which led to the alleged murder of his mother.

A viral video which surfaced on Sunday showed the man being interrogated by policemen with his hands tied behind his back, while the remains of his mother lay in front of him on the floor.

“She came back and gave me N10,000 and hid N10,000. I started reasoning about where I will buy cloth to attend the burial.

“I now left her. But she started insulting me that I should go and look for something to do like my mates.

“I asked her where will I go and look for work with the problem that I have. We have gone everywhere, even to a psychiatric hospital in Abia State.

“She kept insulting me in the kitchen where she was making food. So I became tired and hit her with a hoe.”
