Youths from Rumuokparali community in Obio-Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State, are now living in fear, following a bloody clash between cultists and police operatives which led to the death of a cultist and destruction of a police van.
Africa Update gathered that trouble allegedly started when security operatives from the state CID trailed a suspected cultist to a party in the community last week.
The operatives were engaged in fierce gun battle which lasted for hours, to prevent them from making the arrest but a cult member was killed in the process.
This development led to the retreat of the police officers. Â They were said to have returned on a later date to arrest those who engaged them in the shootout , but some angry youths had purportedly joint forces with the cultists to attack the police officers.
A patrol van was reportedly  destroyed and burnt and some riffles belonging to the Police were taken.
