A naval personnel and his daughter have regained freedom from the den of their captors around Ozuoha/omademe communities in Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State.
The Commander of the Nigerian Navy Ship Pat, Samson Bura, disclosed to journalists in Port Harcourt, yesterday, that the Navy mobilized a quick response team in collaboration with other security agencies towards rescuing the personnel and his daughter.
The victims were said to have been kidnapped at about 8pm on Thursday around Ozuoha/omademe communutues and operatives of the Nigerian Navy at the newly established Naval War College at Ubima Community in Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State , swung into action and arrested five notorious kidnappers terrorizing Ubima and its environs.
In the encounter, gun fight ensued between the kidnappers and the armed rescue team where the superior firepower of the team prevailed and led to the successful rescue of the victims.and dislodgement of the kidnappers den in Omademe Community,” Bura stated, adding that the operation led to the arrest of five suspects who were in possession of dangerous weapons.
He disclosed that three of the suspects were wounded, while their suspected gang leader escaped with gunshot wounds, explaining that efforts are ongoing to track and arrest the ring leader, Kirgika Stanley Lucky, popularly known as Schoolboy.
The commander said the suspects have been handed over to the Nigeria Police for further investigation and prosecution.Meanwhile, the navy has declared Kirgika Stanley Lucky, alias Schoolboy wanted urging members of the Public with useful information that could lead to his arrest to contact the nearest police station or other security agencies.
