Unknown gunmen in the early hours of today, invaded the ancient town of Abonnema in Akuku Toru Local Government Area of Rivers State killing three.
The attack, according to sources who narrated the incident to Africa Update, was aimed at assassinating a young man ( names withheld ) but the operation allegedly didn’t go as planned and two others were killed by stray bullets while several others sustained injuries.
One of the victims died on his way to University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital at Choba community in Obio/ Akpo Local Government Area of the State and the other died on the spot.
Unconfirmed sources alleged that the attack which took place at about 1.am on January 1, 2018 may be cult related.
