About four people have been killed by gunmen suspected to be cultists in Ogbakiri community, Emohua Loxal Government Area of Rivers State.
Africa Update gathered that the gunmen had shot Pastor Nheme from Igodo’s compound, while he was at sea, fishing with his son, Godknows Iheme. Godknows had escaped but his father’s corpse was taken away by the assailants.
The same gang, according to a youth from the village, also killed a pregnant teenager, Miss Queen Amah, who had gone to the stream to fetch water with her friend, Mini Elizabeth, near Rumoro river in the community.
The gunmen had reportedly accosted them and Amah was slaughtered, while her unborn baby was removed for ritual purpose, her friend, Elizabeth was buried alive in a bush near the river.
The source further revealed that another victim identified as Kingsley Owhonda of Wokne’s compound, was abducted and whisked away, while fishing from the same river.
He was allegedly tied to the tree and his body amputated in pieces.
Following the attacks, youths from the area had visited the scene of the incident and discovered a fishing net, two female clothes, two pairs of male trousers and clothes and a jerry can rubber, all belonging to the victims.
Confirming the attack, the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Nnamdi Omoni, said the fisherman who lost his life was hit by a stray bullet at the waterfront and his corpse has been recovered and deposited at the mortuary.
He identified the assailants as cultists from Okpororo in Ogbakiri .
