Operatives of the Rivers State Police Command have killed two members of a notorious kidnap gang on December 14, Africa Update reports.
The victims were rescued 48 hours after they were reportedly kidnapped by the notorious gang led by Sunday Amadi AKA Occasion.
According to a statement by the spokesperson of the command SP Grace Iringe-Koko, the four victims were found blindfolded when operatives of the Command stormed the hideout for the rescue mission.
The statement disclosed that the victims who were driving a Sienna and an Audi car, had noticed an obstruction caused by a large tree trunk placed across the road, which unknown to them was a trap set by the kidnappers.
The statement further stated that about six fierce looking men had emerged from the nearby bush, and had shot at the tyres of the two vehicles which made the attempt to escape futile.
The victims were asked to lay on the ground and later dragged into the bush were they spent about 48 hours, before they were rescued.
The Police Spokesperson said the victims were tortured and funds were extracted from their ATM cards, and families.
The sum of Eight Hundred Thousand Naira was collected from one of the victims’ account and One Million, Nine Hundred Thousand Naira from another.
The statement said the leader of the gang, Sunday Amadi, aka ‘Occasion’, who had had a Two Million Naira bounty placed on him by the Chairman of Emohua Local Government Area, Hon. Chidi Lloyd, was killed in the gun battle alongside one of his boys, while the victims were taken to the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital for medical attention for the various injuries sustained.
