Rivers: NDLEA arrests 21 men, 8 women, confiscates cocaine, heroin, Cannabis Sativa, methamphetamine (aka Mkpurunmiri) in separate raids

The State Commander, National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Rivers State Command, Commander Ahmed Mamuda, had enjoined Rivers people to continue to supply actionable intelligence that will lead to the eradication of illicit drug dealing in the society.

This was contained in a press statement signed on October 12, by Emmanuel Ogbumgbada, Assistant State Commander, Media and Advocacy, NDLEA Rivers State Command.

The press statement captioned Arrest and seizure from NDLEA Rivers State Command and sighted by Africa Update reads: Acting on credible intelligence, operatives of National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Rivers State Command carried out stop and search operation along the East-West Road, Ahoada, Rivers State, starting from 8pm of Monday 10th October till early hours of Tuesday 11th October 2022, and intercepted a gold colour Toyota Sienna SUV with Reg No – Abuja YAB 70 BR conveying 20 bags of cannabis Sativa weighing 251.4kg, from Benin to Owerri.

The driver, one Segun Ajayi ‘M’ 35 years, who was conveying the exhibit was arrested and taken into custody;
Also, still on the same operation, the NDLEA operatives made another seizure of 15 bags of cannabis Sativa weighing 161.4kg inside one ash coloured Toyota Camry saloon car with Reg No ABUJA RBC 590 BQ with two male occupants who on sighting NDLEA operatives abandoned the vehicle and took to flight and escaped into the nearby bushes. All efforts to apprehend them proved abortive. The vehicle was later found to be registered in the name of Egbo John Uche (at large) who is suspected to be the owner of the said abandoned exhibit

While Segun Ajayi is already volunteering useful information, we are exploiting all available sources to track and bring the said Egbo John Uche to justice as soon as possible.

Meanwhile, in the month of September 2022, Rivers State Command of NDLEA

Arrested twenty-eight (28) suspects comprising twenty (20) males and eight (8) females with a total seizure of
81.255kg of illicit drugs which included Narcotic drugs such as cocaine, heroin, Cannabis Sativa and methamphetamine (aka Mkpurunmiri.) As well as psychotropic substances such as tramadol, swinol, Exol-5, diazepam, Amphetamine, and talen.
