Police detectives attached to Omoba Division in Abia State, have smashed a four-man armed kidnap syndicate terrorizing Aba and its environs on Wednesday.
Acting on a tip off, the detectives invaded the syndicates’ hideout in an uncompleted building at Umuajuju Ovungwu, Isiala-Ngwa South Local Government Area of Abia State, to rescue their victim who was abducted on July 18, 2017, in Osisioma Ngwa .
The kidnappers according to reports had abducted the Managing Director of Mba Hotels Aba, identified as Onyemaechi Mbamaonyeukwu Ijeoma, in his ash colour Nissan Infinity SUV with Reg. No. GWA 807 DH and held him hostage while negotiating for a ransom.
On sighting the police team, the kidnappers had engaged them in a shootout and two of the Kidnappers later identified as Nwadibia and Monday were gunned down while others escaped with bullet wounds. The victim was rescued unhurt , while one of the detectives sustained injuries.
Items recovered at the hideout include the victim’s SUV, two motorcycles, and four GSM phones.
