Abuja, Nigeria—The Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Professor Ahmed Audi, has mandated the immediate arrest and investigation of a syndicate of four suspects following an audacious attempt to deceive the Corps’ leadership through elaborate impersonation.
The suspects, who are being held on charges of criminal conspiracy, forgery, impersonation, and public deception, have been identified as Honourable Hassan Sani Jikan Mallam, Obeten John, Abubakar Mohammed, and Lucky Ndirika Emenike.
Preliminary findings by the Commandant General’s Special Intelligence Squad (CG’s SIS) revealed that the primary suspect, Jikan Mallam, had been brazenly posing as a sitting Member of the House of Representatives for the Katsina Central Constituency. He allegedly issued official correspondence and complimentary cards under the false title, “Hon. Hassan Sani Jikan Mallam, Member, House of Representatives.”
According to a statement released by the NSCDC spokesperson, Afolabi Babawale, the group was apprehended when they attempted to gain unauthorised access to the Commandant General’s office, pretending to be legitimate federal lawmakers on official business.
The Head of the CG’s SIS, Commandant A.S. Dandaura, confirmed that the suspects were “caught in the act” and have since confessed to the offence.
The investigation uncovered an extensive scheme of deception engineered by Jikan Mallam. To cultivate the image of a high-ranking official, he had hired a Prado Jeep and employed a police officer, identified as Inalegwu Ameh, to act as his official security aide.
The syndicate allegedly utilised this false facade to make several unauthorised visits to government ministries and diplomatic missions. The most alarming revelation was their attempt to secure visas for multiple applicants at the Spanish Embassy, falsely representing themselves as officials of the National Assembly.
Recovered items, confirming the depth of the fraud, include fake National Assembly letterheads, complimentary cards, and forged correspondence addressed to various embassies and government agencies.
The NSCDC has given an assurance that the suspects will face the full force of the law through comprehensive prosecution, intended to serve as a deterrent against similar fraudulent activities. The Corps further urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to security agencies.
