The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, has recorded another major feat in its fight against the use and sale of illicit drugs in Rivers State. Recall that Rivers State Command, under the watch of Rachael Shelleng, had arrested several suspects, last week at various parts of the state.
Making the recent arrest known via a statement sent to Africa Update, the Public Relations Officer, NDLEA Rivers State Command, Emmanuel Ogbumgbada, ACN , said the suspects were caught while trying to move the illicit substance from Edo State to Omoku town in Ogba Egbema Ndoni Local Government Area of the State.
The statement reads: At about 9:00am on Sunday 28th February, 2021, officers of NDLEA Rivers State Command intercepted one ash colour Hyundai Sonata saloon car conveying 200 blocks of compressed Cannabis Sativa concealed inside 5 sacks, weighing 115kgs. Two male suspects were arrested in connection to the seizure.
The interception took place near the JTF checkpoint in Ahoada East LGA by the operatives of NDLEA Ahoada Area Command. Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspects were moving the illicit substance from Edo State to Omoku area of Rivers State to supply to their customers. Both suspects are already in custody and are supplying useful information to the Agency.
