Gunmen assassinate Governor’s Aide

The principal Special Assistant on Knowledge,  Economy and Investment to Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom,  Dr. Tavershima Adyorough,  has been killed by gunmen, early hours of Sunday.

According to the Benue Police Command spokesman, ASP Moses Yamu,  said that the “police  received information that two yet to be identified gunmen early hours on Sunday  shot Dr. Tavershima Adyorough and his wife in their residence at BIPC Quarters Nyiman Makurdi.

He disclosed that the police had rushed the couple to the BSU teaching hospital where the man was confirmed dead while the wife is currently receiving treatment .

He added that five expended cartridges were also recovered from  the scene of the crime.

Reiterating that “the state commissioner of police  Mr Bashir Makama  has ordered the immediate investigation to unravel those behind this heinous crime and assured members of the public that the perpetrators will surely be brought to book.

Recall that the Senior Special Assistant to the governor on Security matters, Mr Denen Igbane was also killed by gunmen in May 2016.
