The suspected abductors of Mrs Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul, the younger sister of former Nigerian Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, and her 12-year-old twin sons have been identified following a successful police rescue operation in Oyo State.
Mrs Adegoke and her twin sons, Peter and Paul, were rescued alive on Saturday during a coordinated tactical operation carried out by operatives of the Nigeria Police Force.
According to senior police sources, the rescue followed a fierce gun battle between law enforcement agents and the criminal gang. Two of the suspected kidnappers were killed during the exchange of gunfire, and two firearms were recovered from the scene.
The victims had been abducted four days earlier, on Tuesday, whilst Mrs Adegoke was driving her children to school. Following the abduction, law enforcement agencies initiated intensive intelligence gathering, digital tracking, and sustained tactical pressure, which ultimately forced a confrontation at the kidnappers’ hideout and led to the safe recovery of the hostages.
A video recording of the operation has since surfaced online, capturing the emotional moment Mrs Adegoke and her children were secured by the police and released from captivity.
The Oyo State Police Command has intensified its investigation and remains on high alert to track down any fleeing members of the syndicates, reiterating its commitment to combating kidnapping and violent crime within the region.
