Facts emerge about the gruesome murder of Justice Ajumogobia’s daughter

More facts have emerged about the gruesome murder of Aribemchukwu, the slain daughter of Soboma Ajumogobia and his wife Justice Rita Ofili-Ajumogobia, according to police sources.

Africa Update gathered that one of the domestic staff of the deceased owned up to being involved in the murder of Aribemchukwu, who was found lifeless on Wednesday morning at about 6:45 am at the entrance of her family’s home on Bembe Street in Parkview Estate, Lagos State.

Although a family source said she was allegedly stabbed multiple times on Tuesday night, and her lifeless body was discovered on Wednesday morning outside the gate of her residence.

Her three domestic employees, which included the house help, a security guard, and a driver, were however, arrested in connection with the murder.

Providing updates on the findings made so far, a police source who craved not to be mentioned as he was not authorised to speak on the matter said the house help confessed to the crime during interrogation.

The source clarified that the deceased, in her early 30s and the first of two children, was murdered inside her room, and her body was thereafter dragged from the spot outside the gate where it was reportedly dumped.

According to the source, the suspects attempted to clean up the blood stains but missed some spots because the act was perpetrated at night.

“The deceased was killed in her room and her body was dragged to the front of the gate to make it look like she was killed on the spot. After that, all the blood stains were carefully cleaned but still, they missed some spots. They did not clean it well because it happened at night,” the source said.

During an interrogation, the househelp said, ‘We do am, na we do am.” And the police source further noted that everything she said tallied with the evidence on the ground.

The suspects identified as Olatunji Oluwasegun, 35; Umaru Mamman, 45 and Peter Abigel, 21, were reportedly found with some items belonging to their boss, while trying to escape.

The source also confirmed that the three domestic workers were employed at the same time a week before the incident.

Until her death, the late Aribemchukwu fondly called Chuchu, was a medical doctor and a staff of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA).

This is the third murder in Parkview estate where the victims were killed by their domestic staff.

This sad incident is happening barely a few weeks after the family of Soboma and Justice Rita Ajumogobia celebrated the wedding of their only son in Lagos, and Chuchu also recently got married.

Her father Soboma Ajumogobia is the Chief Executive Officer of GEN Merchants Investors Ltd, while his wife, Rita Ofili-Ajumogobia, is a judge of the Federal High Court.

Soboma is the sibling of Odein Ajumogobia, a former Minister of State for Petroleum Resources and later Minister of Foreign Affairs.

When contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, said investigations were still ongoing.

He said, “Investigations are still ongoing on the incident. We will provide updates as soon as there are more developments.”
