Centre for Basic Rights Protection and Accountability Campaign, has rescued an 11 year old Goodluck Jaja from Opobo town in Opobo/ Nkoro LGA of Rivers state who was subjected to severe torture and ill treatment by their Church Keeper at 108 Abel Jumbo street Mile 2 diobu Port Harcourt.
The human right group said they have reported the case to the DPO of Azikiwe street and also handed the boy to them.
Our correspondent report that the DPO has also instructed his men to search for one Elijah who said to be the vineyard keeper of the church who tortured the 11 year old boy but unfortunately he was not seen.
But a member of the church has also be invited for questioning.
The 11 year old boy in an interview said he was maltreated like a criminal because he opened the door of a vehicle in the church on the night of Saturday (9/10/2021) where he and his grandmother resides.
It was gathered that the said Elijah tied his legs and hands and used belt to flog him after which he rubbed him pepper .
It was also gathered that the grandmother is helpless too because the accommodation the church gave them is free.
The centre for basic right and accountability said they were able to get the information through the victim cousin who came from Egbelu and took him to a chemist before the right group was alerted and swing into action
The group thanked the DPO of Azikiwe Police Division Mile 2 Diobu Port Harcourt for his swift response and assured that Justice would be manifestly done in the circumstance.
