Chidi Lloyd Murder Suit; High Court Adjourns Hearing

A high court sitting in Port Harcourt has adjourned till 4th of February in a case of murder charges brought forth against former head of House of Assembly, Chidi Llyod by the Rivers state government.
Prince Azunda, lawyer to Chidi Llyod during his argument asked the court to adjourn the case sine die because they have found an appeal at the court of appeal.
The lawyer to the Rivers State Government, Chief Godwin Obla (SAN) said filing an appeal does not warrant the stay of prosecution.
He insisted that Chidi Lloyd’s absence from court is a contempt of court.
The presiding judge, Justice Chiwendu Nworgu, after entertaining the argument of both lawyers, ruled that the commissioner of police must be served a hearing notice to produce Child Lloyd in court to take his plea on the next adjourned date.
Chidi Lloyd is facing 3 charges bothering on attempted murder, damage of public property and assault with an intent to wound.
