Ajakajak, Samanga, Ibotirem and Dema communities in Andoni Local Government Area, have been deserted following the killing of about twelve people including women and children by gunmen suspected to be cultists. Africa Update gathered from multiple sources that the incident was a reprisal attack from the Iceland Cult group that came to overthrow the MEND Cult group which had hitherto controlled the area.
Several houses were burnt during the attack while some residents who took to their heels are also believed to have drowned. Those who survived the attack are taking refuge in neighbouring Kaa community, in Khana local government area.
