A seventeen-year-old Sikiru Okulaja, who allegedly stabbed a 38-year-old man to death, appeared before an Ebute Meta Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos, presided over by Mrs A. Ipaye-Nwachukwu, on a count charge of murder.
The prosecutor, Chinalu Uwadione, told the court on Friday, May 18, 2018, that the teenager stabbed Mr Mutiu Yekini with a knife on April 22, at 7.00p.m, at Agura, Ikorodu, Lagos.
Uwadione said that the accused stabbed Yekini on the chest and he died as a result of the wound, contravening Section 223 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015, which prescribes death sentence for the offence.
The court did not take his plea but the Chief Magistrate, ordered that Okulaja should be remanded at the Correctional Centre for Boys, at Oregun.
Adjourning the case until June 21, for mention, she ordered that the case file should be duplicated and forwarded to the state Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for advice.
