IMF, & World Bank prescriptions, shouldn’t be used in Nigeria because the model introduces harsh economic environment.
All over the real world, producers of any product, enjoy the proceed of being the producer.
Remember when it was stated that our Oil, the sweet Bonny Light spec, was cheaper than a bottle of coca-cola in Nigeria.
We were told that our Naira was too strong, and need to be devalued, to make more money available for government business and economic development.
Now it’s the story of a new buzz word called SUBSIDY…..with all it’s nightmarish scapegoat allusions..
How do I explain that since Oloibiri spewed out it’s first torrents of oil till date, that Government is subsidizing oil, that the OICs, are making so much profits on.
What part of speech is “Electricity supply is subsidized”. Are we importing the waters of River Niger to turn the Kainji Dam Turbines. Or how should I keep my ears to the fact that Gas that powers the Thermal Stations is not imported, yet Government is subsidizing Electric supply to our homes.
Whom are we paying the Revenue on River Niger waters to.
What country owns the nations Gas deposits in Nigeria, and how much are we paying them.
Subsidy, subsidize, subsidization, are mere explanations for inflicting pains, poverty, perpetualy….since IMF, World Bank, etc, hadn’t shown us countries that their prescriptions had “healed” .
Examples they say, is better than precepts.
Nigeria’s Naira use to be stronger than $ and £, until our relationship with these bodies lead us astray.
Now, it had led to an intended importation of Poverty.
And to “cushion” the effects, Government had come up with “Conditional Cash Transfers” , as if once you get the alert, all your problems are over.
Am still looking for anyone, in my neighborhood, community, village, or professional colleague to see how the alert looks like.
My thoughts are too simple. But maybe, our self-inflicted problems, are too simple to solve.
Please how often are our hopes to be
renewed,
refreshed,
regenerated,
without a renewal duration, or time table.
