INEC was not by any stretch of imagination an IMPARTIAL UMPRIRE in the last election in Rivers State.
Escalating only military overreach in the process whilst ignoring the INEC team’s open conduct of the elections in favour of one Party is worse than cutting one’s nose to spite one’s face.
The Security agencies’ ability to drastically reduce the repeated history of massive bloodshed in the State by containing the activities of fully armed rival mercenary forces in this election cycle is being celebrated and commended by citizens from all parts of the State irrespective of political leaning.
For as long as INEC wants to be both a partaker in the elections and an umpire we can never have free, peaceful & credible elections in the State.
INEC headquarters should move the current clearly tainted team in Rivers State out NOW , put in place a fresh team to correct errors made & the conclude the outstanding election processes. This is the least step necessary to restore its seriously threatened integrity and credibility as an impartial UMPIRE.
