The attention of Rivers State Leaders of Legislative Forum has been drawn to a purported press briefing allegedly held by Caretaker Committee Chairmen of Local Government Councils in Rivers State.
Ordinarily, we won’t have bothered to dignify them with a response, being that they are very known with feeding the public with lies and blackmailing federal institutions that are not willing to take their bribes, just as their PDP PRO, Nwanosike Samuel and one Barr. Chris Itamunoala are known for.
It became very necessary that we state the followings for the benefit of the reading public;
1. It is indeed the PDP and Gov. Wike that has continually interfered with the activities of the Judiciary. Recall, it is the bribe of 100million naira he gave to Justice Akanbi that led to his sack from the Federal High Court, PH. After delivering a kangaroo judgment on the 9th July 2015, that paved way for Gov. Wike to turn the local government councils as another conduit to siphon funds and short change Rivers people.
2. It is also record that Gov. Wike has made several efforts to bribe the presiding Justices of the Court of Appeal in the suit no. CA/PH/338/2016, without luck, as a result of their failure, they commenced the filing of frivolous motions just to frustrate and delay justice.
3. The current press releases made by PDP and the CTC Chairmen are targeted at blackmailing the Panel of Justices constituted to speedily deliver judgment on the suit and nothing more.
As for Barr. Chris Itamunola, he is only acting “a busybody” hoping for re-appointment by Gov. Wike.
4. We therefore, urge the panel of Justices to carry out their duties without fear of intimidation or blackmail. This attitude of members of the PDP has become very notorious, but nolonger in vogue.
5. We also urge Rivers People, the President of the Court of Appeal and indeed, the Chairman of National Judicial Commission (NJC) to ignore their ranting as nothing but an action intended to further delay justice.
We believe that Justice must be served to all.
God bless Rivers State!
