I reluctantly watched the Gov on this serious international platform discussing petty local politics , throwing up fallacious statistics on revenue allocation , disparaging our electoral laws and even indicting the law enforcement agencies of our Country in a foreign land.
He spoke with a very coarse voice and was barely audible. I always wonder why he does that . To my utter bewilderment I even heard the Governor complain about the non-completion of the East West Road , the Port Harcourt International Airport, etc. How hypocritical is this ? Has he forgotten all so soon how , only two years ago , this same people & their PDP who initiated the two projects, wickedly abandoned these projects for several years just to “punish” CRA ? Abi small shame sef no dey for politics again??
Now my four key observations :
a.The PDP seem to be getting so desperate to return to power that it doesn’t mind alarming the international community with false stats and demarketing our Country in spite of the publicly acclaimed steady progress being made by President Buhari to reset the fundamentals of our economy for sustained recovery.
b. Is it not very sad that the Governor could not use such a unique international platform to give full accountability of the billions he has received for the development of the State or proffer any new ideas for the advancement of our nation’s democracy, our development as one Country ?? A true leader always proffers solutions and doesn’t just point accusing fingers at others.
C. The Chatham House has maintained an unblemished history of fielding some of the most respected conventional and revolutionary political leaders of our time in recent history but I fear it risks a serious threat to its hard earned credibility & integrity if it continues to host speakers like the Governor , who use its platform for false, unsubstantiated political propaganda.
d. We the ordinary people of Rivers State do not give a hoot which house the Governor visits or speaks to. Our main concerns are the RSSDA students who are currently stranded. The absence of a clear economic development agenda /roadmap for the State . The reduction of cult based youth clashes which cuts down the lives of our youths , the worsening rate of youth unemployment, the unabated flight of major businesses from the State , the crashing health, life expectancy & quality of life indices in the State, the rise of household poverty levels , etc.
I plead with our Governor to leave Chatham House & all such similar houses alone , return home from London and deal with the serious domestic challenges facing us squarely in fulfillment of his oath of office.
