The cell holding suspects at the Okrika Police Division, have been compromised leading to the escape of all inmates at the facility at about 2am on Tuesday.
The Divisional Crime Officer (DCO) of the station whose name could not be ascertained as of the time of filing this report confirmed to newsmen that the incident had been reported to the Police Force Headquarters, Abuja as well as the state Police Command, Moscow Road, Port Harcourt.
The police said, “the hoodlums broke the padlock of the cell, and also opened the backdoor of the cell where the inmates escaped from around 2am on Tuesday.
“We have reported the incident to the police force headquarters, zonal and state commands.
“The officers on duty at the time the cell break occurred will account for it.”

A Police Investigative Officer, Lovena Elijah in charge of a recent rape case at the station also confirmed the incident but refused giving details.
A complainant at the station, Hezekiah Theophilus also told our correspondent that he got to the station on Tuesday evening and was equally told by the police that all the inmates had escaped from custody
