It’s so sad that after three years in office the only “big” project Gov Wike can showcase in the whole of Akuku Toru LGA is the renovation of NGS secondary school at an over-inflated cost of N500million which is enough to build a brand new secondary school.
Yet from the Soku gas fields alone Rivers State is reportedly receiving not less than N1billion monthly from the 13% derivation revenue allocated to oil & gas producing States. N1Billion monthly contributed from only one community in Akuku Toru LGA = N12Billion in one year ; N36Billion in three years. This does not include contributions from the Kula , Idama & other oil operations host communities in Akulga and all Wike has given back to us is a miserable N500m school renovation project in Abonnema. No major project in Soku. None in Kula. None anywhere else. Not even 5% of revenue generated from Akulga has been invested back . The same is true for Asalga and Delga. The Trans-Kalabari Highway Wike openly promised to deliver in his 2014 campaign has received zero funding in three years.
I truly sympathize with respected Elders & stakeholders from these areas who refuse to see or speak about the acute abandonment of these areas by the Wike government simply because they feel compelled to
support their party, the PDP.
Akuku Toru people shine your eyes.
Kalabari-se shine your eyes. You don’t owe PDP anything, rather the PDP government of today owes you billions of investment rightfully due to you & have refused to spend even 5% of your fair share on your communities . I urge you all to get registered, collect your PVCs & be prepared to use your votes in 2019 to end the Wike misadventure.
2019 will be a make or break year . We can’t afford to leave any stone unturned !!
