Gambia President, Adama Barrow visits Buhari in Aso Rock

President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday in Abuja met behind closed doors with visiting Gambia’s President, Adama Barrow at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The Gambian President, Barrow arrived at about 11:45am and was received by the Nigerian President, Buhari.

They went straight to the President’s office for the meeting.

According to the Presidency’s Twitter handle,”The Bilateral Meeting WAS concluded, followed by a press briefing.

”@BarrowPresident said he came to thank President @MBuhari for the support Nigeria gave to The Gambia during the recent political Transition.”

The 51-year-old Gambian president, Adama Barrow, ended the rule of the longtime leader of Gambia, Yahya Jammeh, who is currently in exile in Equatorial Guinea.

Buhari played a major role in ensuring smooth democratic transition in The Gambia even when Jammeh refused to step aside.

The Economic Community of West Africa appointed Buhari as the Mediator in Chief on the Gambian political impasse.
