Dr. Emi Membre-Otaji, President, Port Harcourt Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture, PHCCIMA, has attributed the decline in economic activities and investment in the Niger Delta region to high cost of securing business due to security challenges .
His words, “There are challenges in the Niger Delta obviously. First, you know the country went into recession because of the fall in crude oil price. Apart from all the other issues they talk about financing, talk about infrastructure, so many, many things.
“But here we have security as a challenge. The people that should come to do businesses in this area are scared away from coming,” he stated.
