NNPC Ltd Communications Head Resigns, Citing Personal Reasons After Key Role in Company’s Transformation

Abuja, FCT – Femi Soneye has officially resigned from his position as Chief Corporate Communications Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd), concluding a 20-month tenure. Mr. Soneye confirmed his departure in a statement issued to the media on Saturday, June 21.

In his statement, Mr. Soneye expressed profound gratitude to his colleagues and media partners for their unwavering support and professionalism throughout his time at NNPC Ltd. He described the opportunity to serve in the role as both a privilege and an honour.

“I extend my heartfelt gratitude to you all for the unwavering support, professionalism, and genuine commitment you’ve shown in helping to shape and amplify the NNPC Ltd story over the past 20 months,” the statement read.

Mr. Soneye cited the need to dedicate more time to his family and attend to pressing personal matters as the primary reasons for his decision to step down.

“It has been a profound honour to serve both the Company and our country, and to contribute in my own way to the ongoing transformation of NNPC Ltd,” he noted.

He further pledged his continued support for the company’s mission and urged his former colleagues to maintain their dedication and integrity in their ongoing work.

Having assumed the role on October 18, 2023, Mr. Soneye played a pivotal role in shaping NNPC Ltd’s public image during a critical phase of its transition into a commercially focused entity.

As of the time of this report, NNPC Ltd has yet to officially confirm Mr. Soneye’s resignation or announce a successor for the crucial communications role.
