Nigeria’s offshore oil production is receiving a significant boost, and Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Oil), Sen. Heineken Lokpobiri, is giving credit where it’s due. He recently lauded the strategic partnership between NNPC Limited and TotalEnergies E&P Nigeria Limited, recognizing their pivotal role in bolstering the nation’s oil output.

During an inspection of the impressive Ofon Floating Storage and Offloading (FSO) unit and the colossal Egina Floating Production, Storage, and Offloading (FPSO) unit, Lokpobiri was visibly impressed by their operational prowess. The Ofon FSO, a steady performer, churns out approximately 40,000 barrels per day (bpd), while the Egina FPSO, a deepwater giant, boasts a production capacity of around 97,000 bpd.

Positioned in the Gulf of Guinea, roughly 150 kilometers off Nigeria’s coastline within the deep waters of Oil Mining Lease (OML) 130, the Egina oil field stands as a testament to the nation’s deepwater exploration success.

Lokpobiri emphasized the government’s unwavering commitment to increasing crude oil production, highlighting the tangible impact of President Bola Tinubu’s Executive Orders and other strategic interventions. “With the government’s numerous interventions and the vast opportunities available, there is a clear path for increased production,” he declared.
