The National Oil Spill Detection and Response says it will soon commission a laboratory that will certify the level of clean up of oil spill sites in the Niger Delta Region.
Director General of NOSDRA Idris Musa said this in an interview with our correspondent Precious Ahiakwo shortly after a review of an oil company facility along with the Department of Petroleum Resources in Port Harcourt.
Idria Musa said the Laboratory when commissioned will ensure environmental standards and regulations are carried out on clean Up sites.
Worried over the spate of sabotage on oil facilities in the Rivers State in the act weeks, the NOSDRA DG, ISAH MUSA called on multinationals operating in communities in Rivers State to deploy technology in surveillance of their pipeline facilities.
He said involving the host community security is not enough to end oil pipeline vandalization in the area.
