The Alhaji Kabiru Tanimu Turaki -led faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Taraba State has commenced consultations with aspirants affected by recent internal disputes as part of efforts to promote reconciliation and strengthen unity within the party.
The development was observed over the weekend as the faction began engaging the affected aspirants in a bid to address their grievances, resolve outstanding disagreements and restore internal cohesion ahead of future political engagements.
The state Chairman of the faction, Obidah Bitrus, alongside members of the State Working Committee, held a strategic meeting with the party’s Reconciliation Committee to review concerns raised by the affected aspirants.
The committee is chaired by Chief John Mamman, while Idoji Baraya serves as Secretary. Other members include Abdulrazak Musa, Younger Banger Binger and Nathaniel Jorner Shaver.
Following its inauguration, the committee commenced one-on-one consultations with the affected aspirants to obtain firsthand accounts of the issues surrounding the disputes.
According to the party leadership, the consultations are intended to enable the committee to examine the submissions of the aspirants, listen to their grievances, establish the facts surrounding the disagreements and submit an objective report to the party leadership for appropriate action.
The affected aspirants include Agbu Magaji of Wukari, Abdulkareem Lawan of Ibi, Hassan Yunusa of Gashaka, Dan Asali Biru of Gashaka and Benson Young of Karim Lamido.
The party leadership described the reconciliation initiative as part of its broader commitment to resolving internal disagreements through dialogue, fairness and mutual understanding.
It said the process would give all parties involved an opportunity to present their positions and participate in efforts to find lasting solutions to the challenges confronting the party.
The faction also appealed to party members and stakeholders to remain united, stressing that genuine reconciliation and collective action would be essential to strengthening the PDP and improving its electoral prospects.
It reaffirmed its commitment to promoting internal cohesion and building a stronger and more united PDP ahead of future political engagements.
