The Rivers State Branch of the International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA Nigeria) has paid a condolence visit to the family of the late Habibetu Favour Aruwa, the final-year University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT) law student who was reportedly killed at her boyfriend’s residence in Asaba, Delta State.
The delegation, led by the Chairperson of FIDA Rivers State, Mrs Tamunoibuemi Life-George, visited the bereaved family on Sunday, July 13, at the Mini-Okoro Police Barracks in Rumuogba, Port Harcourt, where the deceased’s father, a serving officer of the Nigeria Police Force, resides.
Habibetu Favour Aruwa was a final-year law student at the University of Port Harcourt and an active associate of the FIDA UNIPORT Chapter. Her death has sparked widespread grief within the legal community, among fellow students and human rights advocates.
During the visit, the FIDA Rivers delegation expressed its heartfelt condolences to the family, describing the loss as both tragic and deeply painful.
The association reaffirmed its commitment to standing with the family during this difficult period and offered prayers for strength and comfort as they mourn the untimely death of their daughter.
The visit underscored FIDA’s continued solidarity with victims of violence and its dedication to promoting justice, the protection of human rights and the safety of women and girls.

Habibetu’s death has continued to generate concern and renewed calls for a thorough investigation to ensure that justice is served.
