Amidst a swirling political storm, Hon. Dr. Agiriye Monima Harry has issued a passionate call for unity and prayer in support of Governor Siminalayi Fubara. Addressing a delegation from the Simplified Movement, Ke chapter, Harry acknowledged the turbulent times and implored residents to stand firm behind the Governor.
“We are in a country where white is turning to black before our very eyes,” Harry declared, painting a vivid picture of the current political landscape. “But go back, strengthen your people, that the Governor and his team are on top of everything.” He emphasised the critical need for prayer and unwavering support.
Harry also addressed the upcoming chairmanship elections, underscoring their secondary importance compared to the immediate need to bolster the Governor. He expressed unwavering faith, stating, “Only the will of God will prevail.”
Elder A.W. Prince Ekine, speaking for the Ke delegation, recounted Harry’s campaign visit to their community and his subsequent fulfillment of promises; a rare and celebrated occurrence. He highlighted the community’s initial skepticism, given past disappointments, but expressed their delight in finding a leader of exceptional character.
The delegation detailed Harry’s impactful contributions, including the establishment of a health center, free medical services, a life-changing eye surgery for young Destiny (an Ogoni resident of Ke), consistent diesel supply for the community generator, the appointment of Hon. Mrs. Ibubelem Erekosima Alalibo as Supervisor for Agriculture, and his instrumental role in securing approval for a landing jetty. They emphasised their commitment to supporting leaders based on merit, not party affiliation.
Hon. Mrs. Ibubelem Alalibo urged Harry to convey their unwavering solidarity to Governor Fubara. She further thanked Harry for his humanitarian interventions, including the life-saving medical care for Chief Ibanigo Amos.
Hon. Tonye Tyger, Harry’s former campaign Director General, thanked the Ke delegation for their visit, highlighting Harry’s achievements during his brief tenure and urging them to support Governor Fubara’s “liberation” of Rivers people. “Governor Fubara is suffering because of his love for the masses and we as Rivers people have to reciprocate by supporting him to liberate Rivers people from Bondage,” he said
On his part, Hon. Alphine Whyte praised the Ke delegation’s appreciation of impactful leadership, contrasting it with the negativity seen in other communities.
