A Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP), Modestus Ojiebe, who was abducted along the Abuja-Kaduna Expressway, has been rescued by the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command.
The senior officer, attached to the Kwara State Police Command, was attacked while attempting to repair his vehicle, which had broken down near the Dei-Dei Police Barracks in Abuja. According to reports, armed assailants in a Mercedes-Benz robbed Ojiebe and his wife, discovered his police identification, and then forced him into their vehicle before fleeing the scene.
Following a distress call, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Dawaki Division dispatched a patrol team and initiated stop-and-search operations across the FCT.
Initially, security sources confirmed the abduction, but declined to provide further details. However, the FCT Police Command, through Police Public Relations Officer SP Josphine Adeh, later confirmed that Ojiebe had been rescued.
Adeh stated that the suspects abandoned the officer and fled into the bush in Garaku, Nasarawa State. She credited the swift response of the Dawaki DPO, the activation of police checkpoints, and the coordinated efforts of law enforcement for the successful rescue.
Commissioner of Police, CP Olatunji Disu, urged FCT residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the police.
