Muma Gee Alleges Police Harassment, Threat to Life in Port Harcourt Incident

High Chief Dr. Muma Gee, a renowned Nigerian and African artist, has voiced serious concerns regarding her safety and alleged harassment by officers of the Counter Terrorism Unit (CTU) of the Nigerian Police in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

Speaking to reporters, Muma Gee recounted a disturbing incident that occurred at Rumuokoro junction, off the East-West Road. She stated that while dropping off relatives returning from her brother’s funeral in Odiabidi Village, Ahoada East, her vehicle was aggressively approached by CTU officers.

According to her account, officers descended from their van and began striking her vehicle with their firearms, demanding she lower her window. Upon complying, she alleges two officers entered her car and began searching it, while others brandished their weapons, threatening to shoot if she moved.

“As I speak to you now, my car is tragically damaged as a result of the force and constant hitting of their guns on the car, while forcing me to open the car,” Muma Gee stated.

She is now calling upon the Inspector-General of Police and relevant authorities to investigate the incident and address what she describes as the “rascality, irresponsibility, and extortion” exhibited by the officers. Muma Gee expressed deep concern about the lack of discipline and accountability within the police force, warning that unchecked excesses could jeopardize the lives and property of citizens.

She emphasized the need for immediate action to ensure the safety of herself and other Nigerians from such alleged misconduct.
