Hon. Dr. Agiriye Monima Harry, Executive Chairman of Degema Local Government Area (DELGA), has been nominated for the prestigious 2025 Distinguished Local Government Chairmen Merit Award. This national recognition places him among an elite group of 136 local government chairmen from across Nigeria.
The nomination, released by Rootwatch Magazine, the award organisers, places Harry in competition with 136 other LGA chairmen from the FCT and 28 states, including Rivers State. The nominees were selected following a public nomination process, and the list was published in The Nation Newspaper on February 25th.
The award categories encompass a broad range of developmental areas, including Rural Electrification, Rural Health Care Delivery, Portable Water Supply, Agriculture, Education, and Security. Harry’s nomination highlights his contributions to these sectors and his leadership within DELGA. He is one of only four LGA chairmen from Rivers State to be shortlisted.
