…as Ijaw Wari Initiative Presents Rivers Democratic Rebirth Agent Award to him
“I am a proud Ijaw man,” declared Hon. Dr. Agiriye Monima Harry, Executive Chairman of Degema Local Government Area, during a courtesy visit by the executive officers and members of the Ijaw Wari Initiative at the Council Secretariat in Degema on February 24th.
Harry emphasized the Ijaw people’s reputation for bravery, steadfastness, and community support, commending the group for upholding truth and justice.
He expressed his strong belief that Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s exceptional performance in office will effortlessly secure him a second term in 2027. “They can only try, but will certainly fail,” he stated, referring to those who have vowed to oppose the governor’s re-election.
Harry also reiterated his administration’s commitment to youth empowerment, pledging to explore every avenue to develop their capacity and enable them to contribute meaningfully to society.
Comrade Otamunoboma Iboroma, DELGA coordinator of the Ijaw Wari Initiative, praised the Chairman’s outstanding achievements in his first four months in office, particularly the recently launched skills acquisition and empowerment program. He affirmed the group’s support for Governor Fubara’s 2027 re-election bid and requested consideration for their members in future cabinet appointments.
Comrade Somina Wokoma, President-General of the Ijaw Wari Initiative, lauded Harry’s leadership qualities, comparing them favorably to those of the Governor. He highlighted the group’s early endorsement of Governor Fubara ahead of the 2023 elections and expressed satisfaction with the governor’s equitable distribution of development across the state.
The highlight of the visit was the presentation of the Rivers Democratic Rebirth Agent award to the Chairman in recognition of his commitment to democratic principles.
