Port Harcourt, Rivers State – A Rivers State High Court has issued an injunction restraining the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its chieftain, Dan Orbih, from conducting the party’s South-South Zonal Congress in Calabar, Cross River State, or anywhere else in Nigeria. The order, issued by Justice G.V. Obomanu on Friday, prevents the congress from taking place on February 22, 2025, or any other date.
The injunction follows a suit filed by Tony Uchechukwu Ehogu and Field Nkor, both candidates for the scheduled congress, against the PDP and Orbih, in his capacity as National Vice-Chairman, South-South.
Justice Obomanu directed all parties to maintain the status quo as of February 20, 2025, pending the hearing and determination of a Motion on Notice for an interlocutory injunction. The court also granted the claimants permission to serve court documents on the defendants by substituted means, specifically by posting them at the gate of the PDP South-South Zonal Headquarters.
The case has been adjourned to February 28, 2025, for the hearing of the Motion on Notice.
