The 43rd edition of the Federal Public Service Games, held on November 29th, saw a record number of entries in the Volleyball category.
According to Africa Update, 21 male and 12 female teams registered to participate in the volleyball tournaments.
At the Alfred Diette-Spiff Civic Center, intense competition unfolded on the volleyball court. Team Rivers emerged victorious over Team NASS with a 2-0 scoreline.
Other notable results from the first day of competition include:
- Ministry of Defence defeated Ministry of Interior 2-0
- Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy defeated Federal Inland Revenue Service 2-0
- Ministry of Industry, Trade, and Investment defeated Ministry of Water Resources 2-1
- NAPTIP lost to Ministry of Finance 0-2
- Ministry of Education defeated Ministry of Housing 2-0
In the female handball category, the match between the Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning and the Ministry of Special Duties ended in a 4-4 draw, with the Ministry of Economic Planning ultimately winning the penalty shootout.
Draws have been conducted for basketball and other sports, which are set to commence on Saturday.
