Fubara loses 5 Commissioners in one day

What looks like a resignation tsunami may have hit the Rivers State Executive Council, as loyalists of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, threw in the towel on May 15.

The Commissioner for Social Welfare, Inime Aguma and Jacobson Nbina, Commissioner for Transport, have all tendered their resignation letters to the State government.

Africa Update gathered that earlier in the day, the Commissioner for Education, Professor Prince Chinedu Mmom, Commissioner for Housing, Gift Worlu and the Commissioner for Environment, Austen Ben-Chioma, had announced their resignations.

Their resignations were contained in separate letters addressed to the governor, Siminalayi Fubara, through the Office of the Secretary to the Rivers State Government

As at the time of filing this report, about five commissioners have notified Fubara of their decisions to quit the government following the lingering political faceoff between him and former Governor Wike.
