The Save Our Land Initiative Condemns Unwarranted Arrest of Men Loyal to Governor Sim Fubara.
It is with deep concern and utmost condemnation that the Save Our Land Initiative addresses the recent events unfolding in Abuja, Nigeria, particularly the unjust and unwarranted arrest of individuals loyal to Governor Sim Fubara, including the distinguished member of the House of Assembly representing the people of Ahoada West Constituency Hon. Sokari Goodboy Sokari.
Reports have surfaced indicating that these arrests were allegedly carried out by the Nigerian police, at the instigation of individuals loyal to the ex-governor, spearheaded by Samuel Nwanosike, the Local Government Chairman of Ikwerre LGA. Such actions are not only a blatant abuse of power but also a direct assault on the democratic values that we hold dear.
The Save Our Land Initiative unequivocally condemns these arrests and urges for an immediate and thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding this flagrant abuse of authority. The rights of individuals to express their political affiliations and support for their chosen leaders must be safeguarded, and any attempts to stifle dissent through intimidation and coercion must be met with the full force of justice.
Governor Sim Fubara and all those targeted in this politically motivated crackdown have our full solidarity and support. We call upon the relevant authorities to uphold the rule of law, protect the fundamental human rights of all citizens, and ensure that those responsible for these egregious violations are held accountable.
As an organization committed to upholding justice, transparency, and good governance, the Save Our Land Initiative will continue to closely monitor the situation and provide assistance to those impacted by these unlawful actions. We implore all stakeholders, civil society organizations, and the international community to join us in denouncing these injustices and advocating for a swift resolution to this crisis.
We remain resolute in our commitment to defending democracy, promoting human rights, and ensuring that the voices of the people are heard and respected.
Sincerely,
