Batch 35 Trainees have passed out from the Nigerian Navy Base Training School in Onne during a colourful ceremony on April 27.
The Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara, represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr Tammy Wenike Danagogo, played host to the Minister of State Defence, Dr. Bello Muhammed Matawale, MON, during the Passing Out Parade.
The Minister State Defence, who was the Special Guest of Honour/Reviewing Officer of the passing out ceremony, charged the new sailors to abide by the core values of the Navy, which are professionalism, integrity and team work.
The epoch making event also had the Chief of Naval Staff, the Deputy Governor of Akwa Ibom State, House Committee Chairman on Navy, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Defence, the Commandant Nigerian Navy Basic Training School and other top military and government officials with parents of sailors.
The 1,486 new sailors which comprised 1,240 male and 246 female, gave a spectacular parade. Awards were also presented to deserving sailors.
