woman tortures son to death over N90,000

The Ogun State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of Mrs. Akintunde for allegedly torturing her 19-year-old son, Rilwanu Akintunde to death on Sunday evening at Oriola Street, Ibafo over her missing N90,000.

Confirming the incident to newsmen, the police spokesman, Abimbola Oyeyemi,  said “The information I got is that the woman, the boy’s stepfather and his friend tortured him to death.

“They said the woman complained that her N90, 000 was missing and she accused her son. Then, she told the boy’s stepfather, who sent his wife to contact a friend of his.

“They all tortured the boy to death and secretly buried him. The woman later saw the money.

“At the moment, the two men involved are on the run but the woman has been arrested and transferred to the homicide section of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, SCIID.

He disclosed that following the directives of the state Police Boss Ahmed Iliyasu , a manhunt has commenced to apprehend the fleeing suspects .

According to our source, Mrs. Akintunde and her accomplices had purportedly beaten, handcuffed and locked the victim inside a teargased room for six hours when he vehemently refused to confess to the crime.

Akintunde, her brother, Kayode and a policeman identified as Titus, were said to have brutalized the victim, to the point of unconsciousness. Sensing danger, they had rushed him to Richland hospital , Arepo where he was confirmed dead.

 Our source further narrated that the trio had returned to the mother’s site at Sotel where the victim was secretly buried .

The incident took a twist when the mother eventually found the money she had accused her son of stealing at her residence.

On hearing the news, Angry youths and neighbours  took to the streets and vandalized Kayode’s residence .

Kayode and Titus managed to escape from the neighbourhood while the mother was handed over to the police.
