Residents of a three storey building at 112 Bende Street, in Port Harcourt, are now thanking their stars, for narrowly escaping death in the early hours of today, when a part of their home caved in with a loud bang.
The incident, according to eyewitnesses occured about 4:30AM, when the occupants of the building were asleep. The building, an old structure housed shops at the ground floor and the other top floors housed families, who lived there despite the state of the building.
Neighbors had to evacuate the stranded families with ladders and other equipments, as the stairway collapsed with a part of the house.
