The foremost Newspaper Publishers’ body, Independent Newspaper Publishers Association of Rivers State, RIVPA, has elected a new Executive Council to pilot her affairs for the next three years.
The Executive Council was elected yesterday, May 11, at the NUJ Press Centre, along Moscow Road in Port Harcourt the Rivers State Capital, Africa Update reports.
Tge Election which was conducted by a three man Election Planning Committee led by Gloria Boma Harry, with Abraham Dukuma Esq and High Chief Monday Wehere, as Secretary and Member respectively, saw the emergence of Prince Mike Iwezor, as Chairman.
Others who were elected into various offices are as follows: Zeismer Ifeanyi Evans-Osi ( Vice Chairman), Mr. Augustine Tanee (Secretary), Mr. Elyger Agwu ( Provost), while Sir Ngo Elekima Martyns Yellowe, who picked the form for Chairmanship and Warisenibo Benson Patrick Finebone, who also picked the form for Public Relations Officer, were absent.
Earlier, the outgoing Chairman of the Interim Management Committee, IMC, Pastor Jerry Needam, in his valedictory speech, outlined the numerous achievements recorded by his team, which includes the successful revalidation of membership to ascertain the authentic members of the Association, the review and printing of RIVPA constitution into booklet format, amongst several other notable achievements.
On her part, the Chairman of ELECO, Gloria Boma Harry, commended the IMC and Congress for the mandate given to ELECO to conduct a credible election and assured members that their trust will not be taken for granted.
Chairman of NUJ, Mr. Stanley Job Stanley, Secretary of NUJ and the Chairman of NAWOJ were part of those who witnessed the election.
