The Rivers State command of the NSCDC in response to allegations making rounds on the internet that the ogbogoro dumpsite is being used as a place for illegal oil activites has made it clear that it is false.
In a press briefing organised by the command the state spokesperson on behalf of the Commander General, AC Oguntuase Michael stated that asides items recovered from illegal oil activites in the state, other items present at the dumpsite were handed over by sister security agencies such as the Nigerian Navy.
Still addressing newsmen he stated that as for the issue of those within the command going against the tenets of the command that an ongoing investigation is up to curb inside saboteurs, a typical example could be seen through the recently dissolved anti-vandalism unit of the command.
AC Micheal Oguntuase said the command received a tip that some hoodlums around are planning to destroy the seized products and he clearly stated that the command is waiting and ready for them.
The spokesman of the command urged the general public to be on the look out to individuals trying mislead them with wrong information and that he can reassure them that the ogbogoro dumpsite is not a place were such nefarious activites are carried out.
