Isaka Community: Mrs Christy Wokoma states the facts (Video)

Welcome back to The Platform, our current affairs program. Today our guest is one of Port Harcourt’s finest, fashion designer and politician, she is Mrs Christy Wokoma and she’s going to talk to us about happenings in her community and what she wants done about those happenings.

The Platform: Certain things happened at Isaka community so we’re here to interview her, to hear her side of the story and to know what she expects from the government.

For the benefit of our listeners/viewers, we want you to introduce yourself.

Mrs Christy: Thank you. My name is Mrs Christy Ibimina Wokoma. I am from Isaka and I want to talk about Isaka. Isaka is one of the nine towns that make up WALGA. Like Okrika Local Government. Isaka is likened to Ogu, Isaka is likened to Bolo. But if you look at it, to the glory of God, its progress, we are happy, we love it. Ogu/ Bolo is a local government already which is very fine and good, kudos! If you look at Ogoloma, Isaka is likened to Ogoloma. Ogoloma has three wards which is very beautiful, fine, that’s the progress we’re talking about, very good.

But if you look at Ibaka, Isaka is likened to Ibaka, Isaka is likened to Ogbogbo Wakrike, Abuloma and all that. But you’ll see that Isaka does not have a ward. Isaka is merged with Ogbogbo as a ward, that is Ward 6 in Okrika Local Government. If you look at even the population, like I recently laid my hand on the population of these two communities merged together as a ward, our voters strength is over 10,000.

Meanwhile, in some wards I saw, its like 5,000 so I think Isaka, we’re just overdue to have a ward because if you look at where geographically we’re located, we are located at the other end of Port Harcourt, like you have to go through Wait and Bush not like where Okrika is located.

So it’s very stressful for my people, even in terms of election and all that, it’s so stressful. Isaka is one of the very blessed communities in Okrika and I say this because there is no ship coming into NPA that doesn’t pass through our canal. Then we came from this beautiful town and we’re so marginalized, there is no progress. If you look at our secondary school, the sports Institute, its so dilapidated.
I’m crying out, I know our Governor is trying so well, he’s so good, that he should visit Isaka.

Look at the recent thing that happened on the 2nd of October, 2021, people died, our jetty collapsed. We are crying out. Our people, we don’t even have a market in Isaka, my people go through a whole lot, our mothers go through a whole lot to come to Port Harcourt to buy food because there is no market in Isaka, we don’t have a jetty, we can’t access our village, it’s so very bad. And I’m calling on Rivers State Government, please our dear, amiable Governor, Chief Barr. Nyesom Wike, please help my community, help our community and God bless you, God bless Rivers State. Thank you.

The Platform: Well, that particular incident like she said occurred and several lives were lost. Our job on The Platform, is to bring on issues both at the State level and the National level to the notice or the knowledge of the authorities. So we’re also joining our voice today to call on the Rivers State Government, to intervene in the Isaka matter.

Thank you very much for being a guest on The Platform.
