Curtain falls on Rivers LGA Chairmen

A new era is about to begin in Local Government administration across 23 Local Government Areas in Rivers State, as the tenure of the incumbent chairmen came to an end on June 16. The incoming Chairmen, who were voted at the April 17, LGA election will be sworn into office today, by the Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike at the Government House, in Port Harcourt the state capital.

The new Chairmen will serve a three year tenure with their female Vice Chairmen. According to data available to Africa Update, the names of the new chairmen and vice chairmen are as follows: (1) Abua/Odual Chairman: Daniel E. O Daniel , Deputy: Igoma Laura Emnanuel. (2) Ahoada East: Chairman: Benjamin Eke, Deputy: Iyemewe Rose Ogbogo-Ololube.

(3) Ahaoda West Chairman: Ikiriko Hope, Deputy: Jack Ubile Blessing. (4) Akuku Toru: chairman: Rowland Sekibo, Deputy: Caroline West. (5) Andoni Chairman: Awortu Erastus, Deputy: Tema Christopher Udung. (6) Asari Toru Chairman: Onengiyeofori George, Deputy; Tekena Daphne Wokoma. (7) Bonny Chairman; Irimagha David R., Deputy; Anengi Barasua. (8) Degema Chairman: Michael J. Williams, Deputy; Maureen Harry. (9) Eleme Chairman: Obarillomate Ollor, Deputy: Virtue Eke.
